Director, Newcastle Science Company Ltd
Newcastle-upon-Tyne
To £75k plus benefits
Newcastle Science City is an ambitious partnership, supported by Newcastle University and Newcastle City Council, to advance the cause of the city and wider region as a driving force for science excellence and industry. Our aim is to ensure that the city’s scientific excellence in Ageing and Health, Sustainability, and Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine secures new jobs and investment, builds aspiration, and creates a Science City for the future.
Newcastle Science City has a clear remit to support inward investment to science sites; attract and support science related businesses; promote Newcastle’s science and expertise externally; ensure business and community engagement in science and technology, and generate additional funding through complementary projects.
Your role will be to lead Newcastle Science Company Ltd in delivering the business plan and supporting the delivery of the wider Newcastle Science City agenda. Success will be measured by how far you can secure Newcastle’s place as an excellent location for science and technology.
Clearly specific knowledge of science based industries will be essential. This must be combined with experience of securing business funding, both public and private, and broad business acumen gained at a strategic level. However, key to your success will be your ability to maintain a successful interface between the partners, government, and the scientific and technology business sectors.
