A history of science excellence is what makes Newcastle a true Science City. To encapsulate the science innovation happening across the city, four major themes of science, in which we are seen to excel and which are seen to have the greatest global significance and commercial potential have been identified.
These are Energy & Environment, Ageing & Health, Molecular Engineering and Stem Cell Technology.
Across these key themes the city has drawn together a strong platform of science buildings, innovative companies, world-leading research departments and talented individuals all of which are enabling world-leading science discovery.
As a city we are proud to be leading the way on many of the issues of the day, such as energy conservation and an ageing population, and using science and technology to find solutions to those problems.
