    Thursday 19th August 2010

A free guide has been launched which explores the Newcastle of 150 years ago when one of its most famous engineers, William Armstrong, was helping turn it into an industrial powerhouse.

Newcastle Science City – which promotes science in the city – and local historian, Neil Tonge, have devised a city centre trail to celebrate the 200 year anniversary of William Armstrong’s birth.

During the summer holidays, families will be able to follow the trail that takes in some of the city’s most famous landmarks in the life of Armstrong.
