Helen’s role involves coordinating both the strategic communications and day to day tactical activity for Newcastle Science City, including campaign management, press and PR, online and social media.
Working closely with partners at Newcastle University and Newcastle City Council, as well as businesses right across the city, Helen works to promote Newcastle as a city of science across the world, supporting the attraction of investment, businesses and talented people into the city.
A key priority of the communications activity includes the promotion of the Science Central site – on the site of the former Newcastle Brewery – a campaign around which will go live in early 2013.
Prior to joining Newcastle Science City, Helen worked at One North East, overseeing the highly regarded Passionate People, Passionate Places campaign. She has also worked with local destination marketing agency – Newcastle Gateshead Initiative during which time she was involved in delivering the European Capital of Culture 2008 bid as well as marketing NewcastleGateshead as a first choice business, leisure and tourism destination.
A business & marketing graduate of Sunderland University, Helen also holds a CIM Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and a Masters in Marketing & Management from Northumbria University.
