Newcastle is experiencing a substantial and sustained renaissance. The transformation of the physical landscape and on-going investment in cultural development, have led to the recognition of Newcastle as one of the most vibrant and creative cities in the UK.

Newcastle is one of 6 Science Cities across the country. Our focus is to develop Prosperity through Science for Newcastle. To deliver prosperity, we have ambitious plans within the following five streams of activity:

  • Building the Newcastle Science City partnership, to include all science citizens in and around the City of Newcastle, to map out and support the science we excel in;’
  • Creating an ‘Innovation Machine’, a pilot project to identify new needs and support business creation through focussing on unmet needs and new business models;
  • Establishing a Science Enterprise programme to improve university commercialisation spin-outs, and encourage inward investment;
  • Developing a unique new science quarter on the former 19 acre brewery site in Newcastle city centre called Science Central;
  • Encouraging participation in science-based subjects through an integrated Education and Skills strategy.

The Chief Executive is currently working with a small dedicated team, seconded from the partner organisations, to support the city in delivery of this ambitious programme of activities.

Now is the time to grow our team to realise our objectives for Newcastle Science City, and we are looking for the following talented individuals:-
