Regional businesses, Winning cultures

Global hotel chain the Hilton, utilities company Northumbrian Water and North East indigenous SMEs including market research company Explain, the theatre, Northern Stage, and mobile telecommunications company, CCS Mobile are amongst the region’s businesses that have scooped accolades at Service Network’s prestigious Culture for Success Awards over the past few years.

Undoubtedly 2010 was a tough year for the region with many businesses facing multiple challenges and pressures. But despite this, the North East has dug deep and is emerging stronger with renewed resilience, innovation and stronger leadership, clearly demonstrated in past Culture for Success Awards winners.

In 2011, the Culture for Success Awards are expected to be more competitive than ever. These Awards are different from most; they focus on the culture of an organisation as a whole, previous applicants have found that just by entering, it allows them to step back, take an analytical view of their companies, and appreciate the value of their organisation and all the successes it has achieved over the past year.

Susan Coffer from Northern Stage, winner of small business category (2009), comments “The Award serves as a continuous reminder of what we are capable of achieving here at the Northern Stage.”

Chair of Service Network, Neil Warwick says: “This year’s Awards are already generating a real buzz within our region’s business community. We are expecting not only a high number of applicants but a very high standard of applications once again this year. With our Awards being open to all businesses, irrespective of size, specialism or sector, they offer a great opportunity for regional organisations to shout about their successes.”

The 2011 Awards were officially launched at Service Network’s “Amazing Service, Amazing Results” event that took place on 20th January at Gateshead College. At this event over 50 delegates heard from John Hughes of Customer Service Network (CSN) about customer service excellence, highlighting his top tips and common pitfalls. Other speakers included Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, Northern Stage and Gateshead College.

John Hughes commented “It’s fantastic to work with organisations who share our passion for service excellence and we’re delighted to partner with Service Network and do what we can to help their members on their own journeys and developing winning cultures.”

John continues “I was delighted to be able to contribute to this event and I am sure this is the start of an exciting and mutually beneficial partnership between the two organisations that help organisations to develop and improve their customer service, because that is what drives long term customer advocacy and loyalty and ultimately commercial success.”
