Newcastle Science City and partners are undertaking a series of activities to inform the North East Local Enterprise Partnership’s (North East LEP) overarching growth plan, and formulation of an EU Structural and Investment’s Fund’s Strategy for 2014-2020.
One piece of research being undertaken on behalf of the North East LEP is a ‘Smart Specialisation’ study. Smart Specialisation refers to areas building on their specific and distinctive assets and expertise for example key industries, research-intensive institutions, infrastructure, networks, skills, to develop new areas of economic activity and jobs growth. This study is considering which specific sub-sectors are most likely to deliver economic, business and jobs growth and where innovation can best be promoted and supported.
As part of the consultation process, we have produced a short survey which we invite interested businesses to complete. The survey is designed to highlight the strengths, challenges and opportunities in your sub-sector, and its findings will be an important factor in determining which sub-sectors are viewed as strategically significant in the North East LEP area. The survey can be accessed here.
The deadline for completing the survey is Friday 8th November.
If you are a multiplier, intermediary or support organisation we also welcome your comments. The document below has a list of questions that we are seeking feedback on – these are for guidance only.
If the survey is relevant to your business, but you would like to draw our attention to any particular evidence which will inform the research, please email the research team.
